This small table was made of oak and it is used as a plant pot stand. I drew a sprawling dragon on it, threaded right through the wood. I carved it and stained it dark brown. I used several layers of clear varnish tinged with blue paint over tiny foil triangles. This means that the dragon has a slick surface, with shiny yellow scales (some yellow from the varnish and wood stain), and some blue. I took a closer picture of it from the underside, and you can see one of the large claws clutching at the wood. The company dog became jealous of all the attention that I gave to the dragon and insisted on being in one of the photographs. He is half collie, half boxer and half badger, which sounds odd, but then he is quite a big dog.
