Falconry boxes

A good friend of mine asked for two falconry boxes.

The boxes were for Harris Hawks, I didn't ask to see them. I made one box out of pine planks and the other out of plywood with a frame. We thought we would see how a heavy one and a lighter one fared. The answer was found to be that the heavy one was heavier. You learn something every day in this business.

Birds are very susceptible to fumes from varnishes, thinners and glues. I used very little glue, mainly screws. If I had varnished the boxes the customer would have had to wait literally weeks longer while the boxes dried out in the open air.

Made and sold in July, 2004.
