These units and their tops took nine hours just to polish. With wood so beautiful I really wanted to make the most of the grain. 

My brother Chris, his wife Liz and their son Dominic asked for some units for their lounge:

"We needed something in our new home to hold up the television, the hi-fi, the video recorder and DVD player. It had to have shelves for books, and it had to have spaces for the hi-fi speakers. Also, it had to have a way to hide all the cables that the electronic gear needed.

We looked in the furniture shops, and there was nothing even remotely suitable, so we designed this.

My brother Nick made it for us. On the other side of the fireplace is its mirror-image twin. They do exactly what we wanted them to do, and they are beautiful. We plan to put an aquarium on the other unit, and it is definitely
strong enough. The top planks are very beautiful, and are made from a wood called zebrano, which Nick was lucky enough to find at his timber merchants."
