Smuntz Wood

Smuntz Wood receives help from people all the time. Without this help I really do not know
how I would have managed at all. The list is in ascending surname or name order.

It is due to people like these that I find it such a welcome task when I have the opportunity to
pass on help or advice to others. I give it freely with a smile.

To all those who have helped me, please accept my sincere thanks. May you all receive help
when you call and if there is none then call me!

Christopher Blackmore - For endless advice about my computer, buying beautiful products
from me and being a great brother!

Ed Blackmore - For having the patience of a saint and giving so much good advice and
love, I thank the best dad in the world!

Josephine Blackmore - For having the patience of a saint and giving so much good advice
and love, I thank the best mum in the world!

Peter Fernandez - For helping with my stall at large shows and for rescuing the company
computer and giving advice on all computing and myriad business matters.

Glastonbury Country Market - Janet Pipes (seedy cake specialist), Colin, Valerie, Honor
(country slice first prize) and many more, for a place in their cheerful market every week.

Bob Emett - For letting me have his De Walt bandsaw. This tool has been absolutely
invaluable to my business. I do not know how I thought I would manage without it.

Anthony Griffiths, who teaches wood carving classes in Walton - For advising me on how
to obtain a cut piece of wood from a tree that is less likely to split once carved.

Martha Harley, marketing consultant and show manager - For introduction to the two biggest
shows that I attend each year. For designing and supplying brochures and business cards.
Also for encouraging me with the artistic side of my designs.

Bob Musgrave, wood turner of Street - For advice on how to store wood to be used for
carving, and the advice on stocking a wide range of products with regard to price.

Elizabeth Pearson, Warden of Abbey House, Glastonbury. For inviting me to a very fine
evening at Abbey House where she was hosting an art exhibition. Also for lovely memories
of the school where we met when we were eleven. A little while ago, geologically speaking,
and a long way away (Hong Kong). And finally for much encouragement to work hard on my
   art.

Bryan Shepherd, tree surgeon - For providing me with a supply of logs suitable for carving.

Snows Timber of Glastonbury - For selling me pine on many occasions. They put up with me
mumbling my way through the type and quantity of pine that I buy. The last wood I obtained
from them was the best value and quality pine that I have bought in eight years of business.

Somerton (known as Wessex) Country Market - For having my stall there every week, advice
on pricing and the opportunity to have a stall in the annual Arts Festival.

Speaking Tree shop (The), in Glastonbury - I thank Gareth, the owner, for selling my products
from his shop in the Glastonbury High Street. I thank all the staff there for their patience and
good humour while we sort out whatever it is I think I am doing!

Street Country Market - For allowing me to have a stall every week, with plenty of room and
for giving me my first chance to attend such a market. To Margaret and Bob Musgrave and
all the stall holders there for all the advice that they gave me.

Sylvie - For helping to manage and sell from my stall in Street and Glastonbury on many
occasions, carrying heavy objects in and out, providing encouragement and for advising on
the layout of the stall and the number of items displayed. A friend as good as that is very
hard to find! Also, for a lot of support when we had a sad time in my family.

Charmaine and Steven Wells, entrepreneurs both - For advice on products, new ideas,
pricing, selling at markets and fairs, keeping an eye on materials costs and help carrying
   large lumps of wood.

Yandles Timber Merchant, in Martock - For a supply of absolutely wonderful wood over the
years. Zebrano, oak and more besides. I once bought some large pieces of zebrano and I
needed one of them to be cut all the way up the middle. Three metres of Cameroon hardwood,
at least 42mm thick. The tree takes up silicon which blunts saw blades and the inhaled sawdust
of which is really bad news for your lungs. The staff wheeled the slab over to their cutting room
and were back in two minutes with the pieces, correctly cut and at no additional charge.

... If your name is not on this list then please bear in mind that as at this date, 1st September
2011 this is my first attempt at giving thanks.
